 EAST COAST INVITATIONAL TAEKWON-DO CHAMPIONSHIP

Greetings!

I am excited to announce the upcoming World Taekwondo Alliance East Coast Invitational Taekwon-Do Championship on April 23, 2016 and ask your support of our championship. On-line Registration is available through https://www.tourneyreg.net/

Pre-registration will be closed as of April 20, 2016. Pre-registration forms and fees must be received at Waldorf Martial Arts by this date. Applications received after April 20, 2016 may not be processed. Competitors may NOT register the day of the Championship. No exceptions.

Officials, athletes, and coaches do not need to be WTA members to participate at this event. All Taekwondo styles, All AAU Taekwondo Schools, all TSD Moo Duk Kwan Schools are welcome.

All competitors must wear a clean WHITE uniform only. Patches & screens are permitted. No rolled sleeves or cuffed pants. Black belts are allowed to wear a black V-neck collar, or have black trim on the lapels of their uniform. Equipment: Sparring safety gear is MANDATORY: Foam dipped or vinyl Head gear, Hand gear, Foot gear and mouthpiece. A protective groin cup for males is also required. Forearm, shin guards and rib guards are optional. Optional equipment must be worn UNDER the uniform.

Officials attire: Option 1–Slacks, blazer and tie (or a suit), and athletic shoes. Option 2– A white dobok (uniform) and belt, and athletic shoes.

Coaches attire: Polo shirt (collared, one color), athletic warmup/sweat pants or dobok bottoms, athletic shoes and identification lanyard (provided at Check-in). NO T-SHIRTS.

Rebates will be offered to all school owners based on the number of athletes that pre-register from their school(s).

For example, if you were to bring 12 athletes. Your rebate would be a Level 2 (highlighted above). You would get a 10% rebate on all athlete registration and spectators pre-registrations from your school(s). In the above example, the registration fees would come to $720 for the athletes.

Rebates will also be offered for pre-registered spectators from your school. So, if you were to also register 24 pre-paid spectators, you would add an additional $120 in pre-registration fees. Bringing the total amount of pre-registrations from your school to $840. Your rebate would be 10% of $840 or $84.

Coaches Pass- $20

DIRECTIONS:

From Northern Virginia: I-495 (Capital Beltway)/I-95 North to Baltimore across Woodrow Wilson Bridge to Exit 3A MD Route 210 Indian Head. Continue on MD 210 approximately 10 miles to left exit/turn onto MD 228 toward Waldorf. Proceed approximately 6 miles to left turn into Calvary Gospel Church.

 

From the North (Baltimore, Frederick, Laurel):
I-495 (Capital Beltway)/I-95 South to Richmond to Exit 7A-MD Route 5 toward Waldorf.  Continue on MD 5/US 301 approximately 15 miles.  Turn right on MD 228-Berry Road (approx. one mile past Acton Lane).Travel approximately 1 mile to right turn into Calvary Gospel Church.

 

From the South (Fredericksburg, Richmond):
US 301 north through La Plata. approximately 12 miles to left turn on MD 228-Berry Road.  Travel approximately 1 mile to right turn into Calvary Gospel Church.

 

SCHEDULE:
Check-in begins at 8:00 a.m.
Staging for ages 14 and under, all ranks Begins at 8:30 am
Official’s Meeting Begins at 9:30 a.m.
Opening Ceremony Begins at 10:00 am
Competition Begins at 10:30 a.m.

DIVISION BREAKDOWN:

GENDER:  Male and Female (most Divisions)

AGE:  5 & under, 6-8, 9-11, 12-14, 15-17, 18-34, 35 & up

RANK:
Novice includes White, Orange, Yellow, Gold Belts
Intermediate include Green, Blue, Purple Belts
Advanced includes Brown, Red, & Red-Black (if not “Poom” Jr. Black Belt)
Black Belt includes Adult Black Belt & Junior Black Belt including “Poom” Red-Black Belt

WEIGHT:  For sparring only. Most divisions will be broken down by light weight and  heavy weight.  Adult Black Belt Divisions may be broken down further  (light, middle, heavy) if there are enough contestants.

Age, belt, weight, divisions may be further divided depending on the number of competitors in a division.

 

ORDER OF COMPETITION
• EACH DIVISION’S FORMS & WEAPONS FORMS COMPETITIONS WILL BE RAN IN THE SAME RING, WITH WEAPONS COMPETITION BEGINNING IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING FORMS COMPETITION.
• AFTER ALL DIVISIONS IN A RING HAVE COMPLETED FORMS AND WEAPONS COMPETITION, THE OFFICIALS WILL HAVE A BREAK FOR LUNCH.
• ONCE A COURT OF OFFICIALS RETURNS (FROM LUNCH) TO A RING, THE RING WILL BE REPOPULATED WITH DIVISIONS FOR POINT SPARRING VIA AN ANNOUNCEMENT OVER THE PA SYSTEM. ATHLETES WILL NOT HAVE TO REPORT TO STAGING A 2ND TIME.
• ONCE A DIVISIONS POINT SPARRING COMPETITION HAS COMPLETED AND THE AWARDS HAVE BEEN RECEIVED, ALL ADVANCED RANK AND BLACK BELT RANK ATHLETES IN THAT DIVISION WHO ARE COMPETING IN CONTINUOUS SPARRING SHOULD REPORT TO THE CENTER RING (RING 1) FOR COMPETITION.
