WMA’s New World Champions!
Waldorf Martial Arts Team Capture Awards in England!
Saturday & Sunday, July 17-18, 2016, Barclayard Arena, Birmingham, England– Ten members of the Waldorf Martial Arts (WMA) Competition Team traveled to Birmingham, England as part of the 70+ member Team USA to compete at the Taekwon-Do Association of Great Britain’s (TAGB) 11th annual World Taekwon-Do Championships. About 4,000 competitors from 20 countries were on hand. Teams as far away as Nepal, China, and Russia as well as Pan-American Teams from the USA, Canada, and Venezuela were there. Team USA was made up of Taekwon-Do athletes from Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee, Indiana, Florida, and Maryland.
The competition was incredible. With 30 rings up and running , the event ran smoothly and on schedule. The athletes, although from all over the world, were united by their love for Taekwon-Do and competition. Everyone had an outstanding experience, making friends with others from around the globe!
While this was their first international event, the ten athletes from Waldorf Martial Arts represented the USA with pride! Master Roger Cavanaugh, the teams head coach and trainer stated “They had a once-in-a-lifetime experience to which they brought their A-Game!” The results are listed below:
R2 Dofat- Team Sparring– Bronze
Jade Dofat- Continuous Spar-Bronze, Team Spar-Gold
Asia Dofat- Point Spar-Silver, Team Spar-Gold
Jeremiah Quenano– Team Spar-Bronze, Continuous Spar-Silver
Dillon Quenano- Point Sparring– Gold
Tyler Rivers- Team Sparring– Bronze
Alyse Robinson- Team Sparring– Gold
Ethan Tacastacas- Awesome Experience!
Eiane Tacastacas- Awesome Experience!
Cameran Thompson- Forms-Bronze, Team Sparring-Gold
Waldof Martial Arts Closed April 23rd-Important Information, Please read!
ATTENTION EVERYONE!
WMA will be closed Saturday, April 23rd for the
WTA East Coast Invitational Taekwon-Do Championship
WMA is hosting this competition. It is being held on Berry Rd. (rte. 228), right around the corner at Calvary Gospel Church. We need your support to make the championship a success! Mrs. C., Myself, and the WMA Staff are calling on all our students to enter the Championship.
This will be a medium size event and a great opportunity to experience competitive Taekwon-Do! You can compete in Forms, Weapons, Point Sparring, and for advanced belts and Black Belts, Continuous (non-stop Point Sparring). You can do just 1 event, or you can do them all!
Plus . . . Students who enter and compete at the Championship will:
Receive credit for class attendance.
And…
If you win a Medal (finish in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place) in either forms or sparring, you will earn a FREE colored stripe on your belt.
If you win a Gold Medal (1st Place) in both forms and sparring, you will get a Red Stripe on your belt.
For Red/Black Belts* & Black Belts, if you win a medal in forms or sparring, you will receive a Yellow Maintenance Stripe entitling you to skip one maintenance test.
* Red/Black Belts- this applies to your 1st maintenance test after you receive your Black Belt.

Competitors must register in advance. A competitor registration form is printed below. Just print and complete it and bring it in.
If you are a spectator, buy your admission tickets in advance for only $5 a ticket. You can buy them in advance at the WMA Pro-shop. Admission tickets the day of the tournament, at the gate will be $10.

new class times take effect this week at Waldorf Martial Arts
Remember that the new class schedule goes into effect this week.
Yellow and Green Belts class tomorrow night, Feb. 29, starts at 7:15 pm
New Blue Belts, your class is now on Mondays at 6 pm; Thursday has not changed.
Elite Team has been moved to Wednesday at 7 pm.
Saturdays schedule is now: 10:45 am yellow, green and blue belts and 11:30 am is Blue/purple, Purple, Brown, Red, and Red/Black.
